Daniel Plainview

Back in NYC. I've been here for about a week now. Went to a Finger On The Pulse danceparty at the Royal Oak the day after I got back and ran into some new friends and had a a nice time. I've been taking it kind of slow since then, but I did go see Dead Meadow/Foreign Islands/Dragons of Zynth at the Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday. And I went to go see There Will Be Blood yesterday at the AMC25 in Times Square.

Best movie i've seen in ahwhile. Better than No Country For Old Mans, even. PT Anderson, Jonny Greenwood, and Daniel Day-Lewis are like the trifecta of moviefilmakings right now, with Paul Dano and Upton Sinclair playing supporting roles. It was basically a frontier prospector film with a neoclassical horror score that sometime continued through scene cuts, which was neat. And it was a throughly intense experience for the 2h40m runtime, but didn't feel nearly that long. After the movie I got out into Times Square and was listening to the Greenwood-penned OST of the film, which was pretty fucking surreal in that hypervisual environment. And then the score was melding with the noises of the trains and subway musicians at Grand Central.

Anyway, today is Erik Marcel's 20fth birfday. So tonight should be fun. Then im leaving for Cancuuun on Wednesday and returning on the 29th. Here's some pictures of the BowBall show on wednesday and some other things.
