All Points West

I went to the All Points West festival on Liberty State Park in NJ this weekend. I couldn't go Friday b/c I had to work, and it would have been nice to see CSS, Girl Talk, and The Go Team, but Saturday was pretty espectacular nonetheless. I got lunch and margs and headed out there around 230, which involved cabbing and ferrying over to the island. so I got there around 4, about 15 minutes after Metric had started their set. They played Combat Baby and Calculation Theme and some newer stuff off Live It Out, and Emily Haines was wearing a gold lah-may go-go dancer dress. Animal Collective was on after them, and all the joint shareholders in the crowd lit up dutifully as soon as they started their set. The 2nd half of which was very good, they even played Panda Bear's Comfy in Nautica and Brother Sport and some other newbies. Kings of Leon were after them, who were an acceptable placeholder before the Radiohead, though they were having some sound problems. Radiohead went on at 830 sharp and proceeded to play 25 songs over their 2 hour and 5 minute set, including a free-jazz version of the gloaming, an amazing acid-house version of idioteque (to close the show), and thom-on-drums for bangers & mash, which i viddy'd. I had to take the foot train to the light train to the PATH train to the E train to get home. But it was worth it. Dirty Projectors Friday, Battles/Black Dice/Gang Gang Dance Saturday, Aesop Rock Sunday, and The Faint/Shy Child on Monday. Cheers.
